Clara A. Wuebbels, 89, of Damiansville, died Saturday, March 1, 2014 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese. She was born December 21, 1924 in Breese, daughter of John C. and Helena (Schulte) Kuhl. She married Joseph H. “Joe” Wuebbels August 16, 1944 in Albers and he preceded her in death on November 24, 1989. She is survived by her children, Richard (Deb) Wuebbels of Germantown, Michael (Darlene) Wuebbels, David (Janet) Wuebbels, Marvin (Mary) Wuebbels, Edward (Sharon) Wuebbels all of Albers, Edna (Jerome) Rakers of Aviston, JoAnn (Skip) Rathke of Belleville, Linda (Michael) Sprouse of Summerfield, Marilyn ((Mike) Buehlhorn of Swansea, and Rose Ann (Larry) Harris of Freeburg; 38 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren and she was anticipating an additional three in 2014; a brother, Leon (Mary) Kuhl of New Minden; two sisters, Emma Musenbrock and Dorothy Musenbrock both of Albers; sisters-in-law, Bernice Kuhl of Breese and Marie Deiters of St. Rose. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Steven Wuebbels; a daughter-in-law, Mary Wuebbels; three sons-in-law, Joe Varel, Ron Richter and Lloyd Going; three grandchildren, Kevin Varel, Chris Varel, and Sheila Wuebbels; two brothers, Walter Kuhl and Vincent Kuhl; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jane Kuhl, John Musenbrock, Ben Musenbrock, Clem & Madeline Wuebbels, Ray & Marge Wuebbels, Bill & Mary Wuebbels, Clare & Burl Rollings, and Ray Deiters. Mrs. Wuebbels was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Damian Parish and Altar Sodality in Damiansville and the American Legion Post 1026 Auxiliary in Albers. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed baking, bingo, card playing and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at St. Damian Catholic Church in Damiansville with Rev. Jack Joyce and Deacon Glenn Netemeyer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Damian Cemetery in Damiansville. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Hospital Bereavement Fund, for Masses, or to the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
