Florence M. Zurliene, 78 of Albers, died Thursday, October 30, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese. She was born May 31, 1930 in Albers, daughter of Bernard and Josephine (Kalmer) Schleper. She married Otto F. Zurliene on May 3, 1950 in Albers and he preceded her in death on April 11, 1992. is survived by her children, Joyce (Roger) Richter of Belleville, Sharon (Fred) Harms of Shiloh, Charlotte (Larry) Bunting of New Berlin, Gerald (Cindy) Zurliene of Aviston, Kenneth Zurliene of Albers, Marilyn (Michael) Venhaus of Albers, Vernon (Cindy) Zurliene of Edwardsville and Donna (Jeff) Timmermann of Albers; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Irene Zurliene of Trenton, Josephine Potthast of Highland, Margie Zurliene of Pierron and Mary Zurliene of Rural Highland; and one brother-in-law, Ferdinand Zurliene of Trenton. In addition to her husband and her parents she was preceded in death by three sisters, Agnes Linnemann, Dorothy Hustedde and Alvina Dorries; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lawrence Linnemann, Leroy Hustedde, Robert Dorries, Louise and Greg Haselhorst, Theodore Zurliene, Loretta and Claude Stimson, Norbert Potthast, Charles Zurliene, Joseph Zurliene, Alice Zurliene and one brother-in-law and one sister-in-law who died in infancy. Mrs. Zurliene was a homemaker and was a former aid on the Albers Grade School bus and also formerly worked at the Albers Grade School kitchen and as a custodian. She was a member of St. Bernard Parish and Ladies Sodality; the American Legion Post 1026 Auxiliary; and was a former member of the local Parish Service Committee of St. Vincent De Paul Society. She also delivered meals on wheels from the Trenton facility. A funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, November 3 2008 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers with Msgr. Donald Eichenseer officiating. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Albers. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2008 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2008 at Hempen Funeral Home in Albers. Memorials may be made to St. Bernard Parish Organ Fund or to the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
